Safety

A space that grows with your child.

Pebbles works like the best-run places your child goes: Murphee keeps the space age-appropriate, and you set the boundaries and make the calls. This is the part that's for you — how Murphee works at each age, what the heads-ups you receive mean, and what's yours to decide. No jargon, no scare tactics.

How Murphee works at each age

Pebbles grows through four tiers, and Murphee grows with it. Here's what it does at each one, how the space works, and what's yours to decide.

Murphee as Curator

At Pebble, Murphee is a curator: almost nothing reaches your child that you and Pebbles haven't already chosen. The point isn't to watch a toddler — it's to keep the space tiny and calm, with one screen and one decision, so the device itself can't pull them somewhere new.

How it works

  • Audio-first, one screen at a time — no feeds to fall into, no nested menus to wander through.
  • Nothing leaves the safe space — no store links, no ads, no path back to the open web.
  • No timers, streaks, or leaderboards. Nothing here is built to keep a 3-year-old hooked.

What's yours to decide

  • You set the daily limit and the parent PIN that keeps settings, and the way out, to grown-ups.
  • You choose what's in the library — a tap can't add anything you didn't approve.
  • You decide when your child is ready to move up to Stone.

Murphee as Curator + coach

At Stone, Murphee is a curator and reading coach — still choosing what's in the space, now also nudging good habits in the moment. As a child starts to read and to want what their friends have, Murphee keeps manipulative design and chat-laden 'free' games out.

How it works

  • No open chat and no public profiles — the space stays small and known.
  • Coins are earned in-app and never bought with real money from the child's side.
  • Streaks reset gently — a missed day says 'welcome back,' never 'streak broken.'

What's yours to decide

  • You approve what's in their space and set the daily limit.
  • You get a heads-up when the coach notices something, and decide how to follow up.
  • You set the pace — widen what's allowed as your child shows they're ready.
Rock, the Pebbles character for ages 8–10 — a pre-teen with arms crossed

Murphee as Teacher

At Rock, Murphee supports guided browsing with a small set of tabs and filtered search when you allow it. Every new page and embedded document is checked against your family settings. Pebbles provides reading and learning support separately.

How it works

  • Friend messaging is not available in the current family release.
  • Search and recommendations stay inside age-appropriate bounds.
  • Learning rewards recognise practice without public leaderboards.

What's yours to decide

  • Friend messaging and contact approval are not available in this release.
  • Review blocked website notices and adjust approved places as your child becomes more independent.
  • Murphee flags; you decide.

Murphee as Protector + mentor

At Boulder, Murphee gives teens familiar browser tabs, search and bookmarks within your family limits. Website sign-in routes require permission; document downloads become available from age 14 with your permission. Pebbles remains their learning companion.

How it works

  • The teen makes everyday calls within the limits you set — a heavy hand just pushes their world out of sight.
  • Murphee is open and minimal about what it shares with you, so a teen knows where the lines are.
  • Website addresses and public search results are checked. Murphee does not analyse private conversations or detect grooming in them.

What's yours to decide

  • You set the outer limits; the teen makes their own choices within them.
  • When Murphee blocks a page, review the domain and reason in your parent hub and decide whether to change your settings.
  • You choose how much independence to extend as trust builds.

Heads-ups, and what you can do

When Murphee handles something, or spots something worth your eye, you get a heads-up. Each one has a plain meaning and a clear set of options — open one to see what Murphee did and what you can do.

Guides for parents

Short, practical guides — how Murphee works, the conversations that matter most, and the habits that make limits feel light. No fear, no lectures — just things that work.

A quiet note on privacy

Murphee runs on your child's device, so what you receive are short, derived heads-ups — enough to act on, never a feed of what your child read or said. It's a calm trust detail underneath everything else, and it's worth understanding.
